The 2008 Mans Classic has kept its promises during three non-stop days paying tribute to Lady Automobile.
On the track
40 racing drivers who had already competed in the 24 Heures, including 8 winners. Among those champions, Jürgen Barth who takes the lead as member of the 2008 winning team, driving a Porsche 936. Undoubtedly, a nice manner to celebrate the manufacturer from Stuttgart's 60th anniversary.
Four " Le Mans-style" starts, given by celebrities such as Buzz Aldrin, Felipe Massa, Robert Gendebien… in front of Jean Todt, Paloma Picasso –a member of the Le Mans Heritage contest-, Rowan Atkinson, alias Mr Bean, who was competing in the event aboard an E-Type Jaguar….
400 cars, those or the sister car- who competed in the French legendary race between 1923 and 1979, split into 6 "grids" which have been competing by turn for 24 hours. Podium: 65 – 27 - 40
The brand new Little Big Mans grid was most successful …
…with its 70 drivers of the seventh star grid dedicated to 6 to 13 juniors. If French Prime Minister had to withdraw due to health major trouble, his 7-year old son Arnaud has fiercely defended the Fillon family flag in this grid under mother Penelope's full of emotion look.
In the core of the Bugatti circuit
The six paddocks have hosted between each round the cars of each grid ,
And the seventh one, the "Junior Paddock" has offered in addition to the hospitality for the mini cars, a lot of activities for the "Little Big Mans" budding drivers.
The clubs have told the automobile story through 6500 cars and a contest on the "Your most beautiful victories" theme, won by the Bentley South East Region Club; whilst the "Best of Show" was granted to the Lotus clubs.
"Le Mans Heritage Club" most exclusive club of the Le Mans Classic, with its 24 Hours chassis has awarded the Alpine A442B as the "Best of Show", 30 years after her victory at Le Mans
