Races are woven of seconds which the stop watches count but do not tell the story. This is what Laurent Nivalle does; he walks around and captures the moment with its emergencies, expectations, rewards and gestures. He catches light and ambiance, but he is not an archivist who documents each tiny detail. He photographs what he sees and then selects. This is his book created from the stories of other men and the stories of their cars. Robert Puyal, present at Le Mans Classic since 2002, is the wordsmith. He introduced Laurent to the event without trying to put a brake on his creativeness. It wouldn’t have worked!
