- The day and night practices will take place on Friday, from 15:00 onwards.
- The extension of the sixth grid deadline is from 1978 to 1979, opening the track to the Ferrari BBLMs and the BMW M1s.
- The circuit brand new infrastructures
Except these three major changes, the 2006 Le Mans Classic will carry on as its predecessors:
- A race succession (400 cars) lasting 24 hours Racing in turn for 24 hours, each grid for three rounds.
- A huge Club gathering with 5,000 cars expected
- A "Le Mans Heritage Club" reserved for 24 "Le Mans" chassis not racing. They benefit from a concours
- An auction, always run by Christie's
- A village dedicated to Automobile benefiting from the new Bugatti facilities
- An open air Trade Fair where car manufacturers compete with each other to launch their new luxury sporting brand.
- Original shows for instance a flight over the circuit aboard a helicopter, or a discovery track lap aboard a historic bus.
A meeting will take place Friday 7th July 2006. The day testing is from 15.00 and is followed by the night testing until 1.00am.
