ICMWhat is the project in partnership with the Brain Institute?

For this edition, Le Mans Classic is supporting the Brain Institute in identifying inattention markers to help drivers better manage or assess their fatigue and thus improve road safety.

It will involve 40 lorry drivers, aged 18 to 40, whose brain waves will be recorded by EEG (electroencephalography) whilst driving in a simulator and then in a second phase on the road. The study will correlate this data with drivers' self-assessment of fatigue and alertness.

The objective is to validate a new fatigue marker, "local sleep intrusions" which generally precede falling asleep and which greatly reduces alertness. The results and applications of this research project could improve safety by predicting the first signs of fatigue whilst driving, thus helping to reduce accidents.

Therefore, when purchasing your ticket, you have the option to contribute to this project by making a Β£2 donation.
